# 6 websites for gifts that feel like a find.

By Coolshit Studio · Published 2026-10-29 · 3 min read

The hard part of gift shopping is usually deciding where to start. A giant search result gives you more options. A good shop or a small, opinionated edit gives you a direction. These are six places we would start, depending on the person and the kind of present.

There is no universal winner here. A custom keepsake, a beautifully odd kitchen object and a gift for someone with a very specific hobby call for different websites. Choose the route that fits, then make a shortlist of three. You do not need another thirty tabs.

## How we chose these websites

These are Coolshit Studio’s editorial picks, grouped by use case rather than ranked by a test score. Coolshit Studio is our own website and is included in each list. We reviewed the linked websites and their published information, not every product or checkout experience. The external links in these articles are direct, non-affiliate links; affiliate links elsewhere on our site are labeled.

## 1. Coolshit Studio (our own site)

Best for: A small, opinionated shortlist

Our own site brings together unusual objects, clever tools and design-led gifts from different brands. Browse by category and budget, or use the five- or ten-question gift finder when you know their vibe better than their wishlist.

We would start here for the friend who enjoys discovering things. It is a discovery site: shopping links take you to the original seller, and the prices shown are dated snapshots.

Before you choose: Confirm the current price and delivery with the linked brand.

## 2. Uncommon Goods

Best for: Shopping around a particular interest

Its Gift Finder starts with the recipient and their interests, then uses feedback on suggestions to refine the selection. We would try it when “likes gardening, cooking and slightly nerdy things” is the best brief you have.

Before you choose: Start with one strong interest; judge the actual item rather than the novelty of the idea.

## 3. Etsy

Best for: Specific, personalized ideas

Etsy’s personalized-gift category covers items such as jewelry and home decor from individual shops. It is our pick when you already have a meaningful detail in mind: a name, place, date or shared joke.

Before you choose: Read the individual listing for materials, customization instructions and timing.

## 4. MoMA Design Store

Best for: Design with a playful streak

MoMA’s gift guide organizes its selection by budget, recipient and interest, including art lovers and hosts. We would use it for someone who notices how everyday objects look and work.

Before you choose: Pick a useful object that fits their routine, rather than buying on appearance alone.

## 5. Finnish Design Shop

Best for: Home gifts with a clear design point of view

Its gift section brings together home objects, tableware and other design finds, with Nordic brands among the selection. We would browse here for a housewarming or a recipient with a considered home.

Before you choose: Check the object’s dimensions and the delivery options for your destination.

## 6. Not On The High Street

Best for: Occasions and personal touches

The site groups personalized gifts by recipient and occasion, from birthdays to weddings. We would use it when the celebration itself gives you the brief.

Before you choose: Made-to-order lead times matter. Check destination availability and the maker’s delivery details.

## Pick a website before you pick a present.

- For a blank-page brief, start with a curated edit or a gift finder. For a very specific idea, search a marketplace.
- Set a total budget that leaves room for shipping. A smaller gift that arrives comfortably beats a bigger one that misses the occasion.
- Ask what they will do with it on an ordinary Tuesday. If you cannot picture an answer, keep looking.

Our favorite gift-shopping trick is to write one sentence about the person before opening a shop: “They love cooking for people, hate clutter and have a bright kitchen.” That is a much better search brief than “gift for friend.”
